Processes in the forest vegetation of thermophyticum in the past decades
Pospíšková, Marie ; Hédl, Radim (advisor) ; Szabó, Péter (referee)
The thermophilous forests, especially their herb layer, are important from the conservational as well as from the cultural point of view because they represent unique communities directly and indirectly affected by man on the long term basis. Since the 19th century the way these communities are affected changed significantly, the same way as the whole society changed, and the vegetation responded by shift of species composition, diversity and also changes of the spatial structure. This thesis brings together the most relevant changes of vegetation and their causes. However, there is similar situation in the whole Europe, or more widely in the whole temperate zone, thus there are references also for other countries. Regarding historical ecology, one of the most studied countries is the Great Britain, which is mentioned the most often in this work.
Forest vegetation in the Bohemian Karst between traditional management and modern conservation
Veverková, Alina ; Hédl, Radim (advisor) ; Petřík, Petr (referee)
Forest understory vegetation in lowland woodlands is coming through systematical changes, which are documented from many regions. Abandonment of traditional coppicing management, nitrogen deposition and effect of high game densities in some regions are considered to be the main key drivers. Changes of seminatural woodland in protected area of Bohemian Karst were studied in this research. The abandonment of traditional management is probably the biggest environmental change in this area. Original data, semi-permanent plots with phytosociological relevés, were surveyed shortly after the last coppicing in the half of twentieth century. These plots were now re-visited. Partial task was to evaluate how important relocation accuracy is. Discovered changes have similar trends as in other lowland woodlands. After abandonment of coppicing, site conditions changed towards more shade and nutrient rich sites. Vegetation shifted to species assemblages of late succession dominated by shade-adapted and nutrient-demanding species. Slight decrease in gama-diversity, increase in alpha-diversity and decrease of beta-diversity indicated taxonomic homogenization was recorded. Re-visiting of semi-permanent plots was evaluated as appropriate tool for this type of research. Spatial heterogenity is partly affecting temporal change,...

The care of herbal layer in garden art monuments
Dále metodika obsahuje základní přehled použití bylin v historii v Evropě a na území v ČR, a to z důvodu doplnění a pochopení problematiky managementu bylinného patra v památkách zahradního umění. Výše uvedené pak doplňuje také ryze praktické srovnání finančních nároků na údržbu vybraných složek bylinné vegetace.

Vliv intenzivního chovu zvěře na dřevinnou a bylinnou vegetaci v Oboře Loučná nad Desnou
Pospíšil, Jiří
The aim of this diploma thesis was to assess an influence of game on woody and herbal vegetation in Loučná nad Desnou game preserve. Monitoring was realized in 2014 on 14 monitoring areas according to ČERMÁK, MRKVA (2003) methodics. Total number 3491 individuals of six species were determined in monitoring areas. The most common was European beech Fagus sylvatica, sycamore maple Acer pseudoplatanus and Norway spruce Picea abies. There was also European ash Fraxinus excelsior, small-leaved lime Tilia cordata and silver birch Betula pendula. The most damaged species in natural regeneration was European ash, sycamore maple and small-leaved lime. The influence of game on herbal vegetation was evaluated on the pair organized vegetation reports along the game preserve plot, where the influece of game was visually evident in absence of shrub layer. There was not visible any obvious influence of herbal vegetation on all vegetation reports due to the game.
